Learn to research historical material in order to tell engaging stories that can take on a life of their own! Get insights on how to best use local archives and effectively draw on many sources to find the historical content you need for your next story. Discover how to use primary sources and oral histories – often resulting in discovering unknown and unique stories. Following the presentation, get started researching and writing your own historical narrative through guided exercises. Bring your own ideas about the history you would like to explore, a historic artifact (diary, photo, letters or other items) which relate to your topic and leave with a solid start and plan moving forward.

Cara Guerrieri is a staff writer for the Crested Butte Magazine. Her non-fiction historical stories have also appeared in the Gunnison Country Magazine and Colorado Central Magazine. She co-authored two memoirs, Pure Joy with her mother and The Spaghetti Gang with her father. She earned her Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Western State Colorado University. She splits her time between Gunnison, Colorado and Blue Hill, Maine.
