Choose from a variety of mediums and projects throughout the winter and spring seasons! Local artists share their expertise on colored pencil, assemblage art, acrylic, painting, beaded jewelry and more. Take one class, several or all of them! Monthly November 13 through April 24.

TUE NOV 13 Prismacolor Colored Pencil Drawing

Learn the many blending, layering and mixing techniques that are possible with the luxurious and smooth Prismacolor colored pencils. Once you’ve been introduced to the painterly qualities of Prismacolor, you’ll never go back to another kind of colored pencil! Work on a single drawing for a framed final piece. WED DEC 19 Leather Bracelets with Silver Wire Wrapping

Using jewelry tools - plyers, hammers and anvils - crimp and shape waves, curls and decorative patterns on on a pre-made, three strap leather bracelet with a snap closure.  2:15 - 4:15 p.m. $35 

MON JAN 14 Upcycle and Reimagine

Often ordinary materials are taken for granted. But if seen with appreciation and open mindedness, discarded things can be repurposed into extraordinary art! Use surprising, unusual and previously used household items and other objects to play and experiment and create works of art. Materials included, but you are welcome to bring your own interesting objects as well. Instructor: Carol Connor. 3:45 - 6:15 p.m. $40  

TUE FEB 12 Acrylic Painting on Canvas

Learn acrylic painting on canvas to create a stunning interpretation of the piece, Aurora Borealis. Students learn color mixing and blending techniques for the background, and techniques to render tree forms in the foreground — keeping in mind the “rule of thirds” for good overall composition. Instructor: Mary Tuck. 3:45 – 6:00 p.m. $40

WED MAR 27 Photography Skills with Lydia Stern

Photographer Lydia Stern of Mountain Media Magic shares her knowledge of capturing stunning photographs! Focusing on documentary or “lifestyle” photography, Lydia teaches you how to capture people in candid moments, using those wandering in our downtown as subjects. Learn how to create compelling composition; how light is paramount in photography; how to manipulate your exposure; as well as how to adjust your camera settings to affect the outcome of your shot. Head back into the classroom to critique and identify your most successful images. Using your very best shot, learn basic tools for post-process editing using Lightroom, Photoshop and / or free apps on your phone. Your finalized photo will be sent to print, allowing you to take and frame your best work. Bring a Point-and-Shoot, DSLR, or camera phone to class - all will work beautifully for this workshop. WED APR 24 Beaded Jewelry

Learn to make beautiful beaded jewelry pieces such as necklaces, bracelets or earrings. Finish your items with clasps, jump rings and ear wires for wearable works of art that are ready to adorn you or someone you love. Instructor: Mary Tuck. 2:15 - 5:15 p.m. $45
