Accomplished in Musical as well as Visual Arts, Suzanne Pierson’s works will be performed and displayed at The Piper Gallery in The Center for the Arts, Crested Butte, CO. All are welcome to attend the Opening Reception August 17 from 5–7 PM. The exhibition will continue through Sept. 6, 2010. Suzanne’s artworks in acrylic, mixed media, and watercolor will be on display. Suzanne will give a free, entertaining acoustic concert of original songs at the reception.

The paintings that are in The Piper Gallery exhibition range from affordable small 6 x 4 en plein aire watercolors to collectable acrylics on canvas. But the most unique of all are her images of women painted on antique wooden ironing boards! Transcending the stereotypical associations of women’s labor, Suzanne’s works lift us to think of women as heroines and figures from “herstory”. Come meet Amelia Earhart as well as White Buffalo Woman and others on wood.

As an accomplished visual artist, the beauty of the earth inspires her imagery. She is a member of Artists of the West Elks. Earning her BFA and Masters in Humanities degrees at Colorado State University, University of Colorado, she also studied on board 3 Semester at Sea voyages. Owner of The Metamorphosis Art Gallery in Estes Park, exhibitor in many shows, and Art faculty member at Metro State College in Denver, Suzanne’s experiences in the world of Art are notable.

With 4 decades of musical experience Suzanne’s travels around the world have inspired and enriched her art. This globetrotter made the 1st album produced in Africa of original songs composed by an American woman and distributed to an international market. It was entitled, “Child”!

Suzanne’s powerful voice interpreting original songs has been enjoyed by thousands. Her entertaining shows found stages from Hollywood to India. Guest vocalist at major University Women in Music Conferences, she received high recognition for her gifts. Her voice is considered “world class”. Truly a Song Poet who began composing at age 8, her musical parents had great influence on her artistry. She composes on guitar, piano, marimba or synthesizer.

As a Music Specialist for 15 years, Suzanne’s teaching excites young musicians to their best performances. Her award-winning, environmental musicals, performed by children for children, received accolades from schools in America and internationally, from the United Nations, to the Earth Summit in Brazil. Her music won the Colorado Governor’s Award for Excellence in Education and prizes from the Denver Mayor’s office and Denver Museum of Art.

Founder and lead composer/vocalist of Song Ceremonies, an internet company specializing in custom songs for all occasions, Suzanne also is a dog lover and the author of “Hap the Pup” products online. Suzanne not only composes for Song Ceremonies, she writes thought-provoking children’s stories and poems.

Her values are extraordinary and refined by her experiences as a cancer survivor where “giving back” with a sense of gratitude and celebration for Life guide her every decision - Alive and well and ready to serve the highest good.
