About Tour de Forks

Tour de Forks is the delectable, signature fundraising series for the Center for the Arts with events taking place between June and September each summer.

Throughout the Tour de Forks events, food and architectural enthusiasts visit a variety of private homes and dine on epicurean delights. The hottest trending chefs from Crested Butte, Kansas City, Denver, and Boulder strut their stuff to showcase their greatest and most creative talents. Homes range from sharp modern décor and design to exquisite historic renovations. You may travel from Crested Butte to Hidden River Ranch to Ohio Creek. One evening features an evening on the Taylor River with an Italian chef who has cooked for Popes and Presidents, another a Julia Child opera performance. Here you can learn cooking techniques during lunch or see artifacts from the sport of skiing dating back to the 1800s.

"[Hosting a Tour de Forks event] was one of the best things we ever did in Crested Butte. It was the highlight of our new home, and the opportunity of meeting the community supporters, the volunteers, and of course the Chef, was an absolutely wonderful experience we will never forget." - Mary Lou Blaharski

Dawn to Dusk Golf Challenge

A memorable stop on the Tour is the Dawn to Dusk Golf Challenge in August. The event is a 100-hole golf event whereby golfers secure sponsorships per-hole. Golfers have so much time to play 100 holes; and sponsors pledge $1, $2, $5 or more per hole. Golfers technically play for free but must secure $1,000 in sponsorship to play. Sponsors pledge as little at $100 to a golfer in order to attend the spectacular Player & Sponsor Celebration Party at the end of the day. The party includes food and music from local favorite Beatles cover band Doctor Robert. Space is limited to play and unlimited to sponsor.

The Tour's Impact

The Tour de Forks is a cornerstone of the Center's fundraising efforts, which help support 60% of its annual operating budget. Funds raised support the Center's 624 event, rentals, classes, and rehearsals that serve over 33,000 people, with the Center itself producing 277 of these events. Our diverse Center Productions engage residents and visitors while our free outdoor concert series, Alpenglow, welcomes thousands every summer in a gathering that has truly become a community experience. Through our partnership with the Crested Butte Film Festival, we help bring independent films that invite discussions, spark creativity, and promote cultural, social, and environmental awareness to the community. Additionally, hundreds of students of all ages have encouraged their own creative spontaneity through dance classes with the Crested Butte Dance Collective and art classes through The Art Studio of the Center for the Arts. Our two galleries - The Piper Gallery at the Center and the ASCA Gallery at The Art Studio - offer local and regional artists venues to display their work.

None of this would be possible without the support garnered through Tour de Forks.

We are grateful to the volunteers who help prep, serve, and clean; the homeowners who open their doors; and the chefs that take time away from their restaurants to offer their skill and expertise without pay. And you, our attendee, the supporter who craves fine food and a desire to support our mission.

Thank you to all our volunteers and attendees who make these events not only possible, but successful. Bon Appétit!
