Jillian Owens Liebl
Special Events & Culinary Arts Director
Jillian Liebl serves the Center in the dual role of Special Events and Culinary/Vintner Arts Director. She has a diverse background in event planning, marketing, theater, outdoor education, and food service and management, and is thrilled that her skills will help the Center sustain its mission to make arts and cultural experiences accessible to everyone.
Most recently, Jillian worked as an Event Coordinator at the SteamPlant Event Center in Salida, where she was responsible for planning and implementing a wide range of events including weddings, galas, concerts, and conferences. Other past roles include Produce Manager at Glover Street Market, a gourmet health food store and restaurant in Twisp, WA; co-owner of Rift Valley Earth Skills, a primitive and survival skills school she and her husband founded; and theater critic and arts features writer at The Austin Chronicle in Austin, TX.
Jillian graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with degrees in Religious Studies and Plan II, a multidisciplinary honors program. She was one of twelve Dean’s Distinguished Graduates in the College of Liberal Arts, and her research on a Texas megachurch won the prestigious Mitchell Award.
After a brief stint living on the Texas Gulf Coast, Jillian is over the moon to be returning to the mountains of Colorado; she called Salida home for the past four years and can’t wait to see what life’s like on the other side of the Divide.
When she’s not planning events, Jillian can be found hiking, practicing yoga, canning and preserving food, and going on adventures with her husband, one-year-old son, and border collie mix, Puck.
