Jason Boland and the Stragglers
Red dirt country heroes Jason Boland and the Stragglers pen honky-tonk tunes as whip-smart as they are body-moving. His burnished, evocative baritone and pensive-but-not-pedantic writing style finds its roots in the rusted Oklahoma traditions of his native homeland’s greatest son – Woody Guthrie. These are songs of rejection and redemption, dark clouds and silver linings, all assembled in the rough-hewn manner that’s sold over a half million records. By vividly chronicling the thoughts of a regular guy trying to make sense of the world, it’s easy to see why the group’s two-step friendly rhythms have easily cracked the Top 20 of Billboard’s country albums chart. The band is Jason Boland (guitar), Roger Ray (guitar, pedal steel, resophonic guitar), Brad Rice (drums), Grant Tracy (bass) and Nick Worley (fiddle, mandolin, vocals).
