Melissa Mason

VISUAL ARTS DIRECTOR, ASCA PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Melissa is the Program Director of the Art Studio of the Center of the Arts (ASCA), the visual arts annex of the Center for the Arts, located at 111 Elk Avenue. Melissa has a Masters in Teaching and brings her own prolific background in painting and drawing to the the Art Studio. She designed and implemented visual arts programs at three schools including the Slate River School and Crested Butte Academy, and is also a member of the Arts Alliance and the Visual Arts ad hoc committee of the Center's Board of Directors. In addition, she is the Director of Programming for The Trailhead Children's Museum. Before becoming ASCA's program director, Melissa owned and operated The Studio Art School in Crested Butte for 3 years. “I've had adults tell me they walk around the world and look at it differently after taking an art class,” she says. “I want to offer that experience again and again.”
