Center for the Arts Crested Butte
The Center for the Arts has an amazing Winter Season line up in 2010 with nine shows beginning in November! There will be something for everyone as we visit with old friends and welcome new acquaintances to the stage. Among the singer/songwriter set, we welcome Eliza Gilkyson and Ellis Paul to kick things off November 15. For a bit of kick in your heels, bluegrass trailblazers Drew Emmitt Band, Boulder Acoustic Society and Crooked Still perform in February, with a splash of country and blues from Suzy Boguss. For your holiday entertainment, Mead Metcalfe brings a revival of his famed Crystal Palace Show in December, with Manitou Arts Theatre following that in January. Virtuoso musician Alpin Hong returns in March. And we round out the season with the return of Aspen Santa Fe Ballet after that. We hope to see you in the audience! Suzy Boguss: From Busker to Big Time
|
“You can’t deal me the aces and think I wouldn’t play.” It’s a line from one of Suzy Boguss' signature songs, but it’s also the philosophy with which the Illinois-born singer manages her career, and the stepping-off point for a collection of her strongest songwriting and most evocative vocals to date. On February 12, this award-winning country/blues, songwriting star will perform at the Center, bringing her love for performance, easygoing nature, and stunning voice to the East River Valley. She remains consistent in her unwillingness to be defined by the expectations of others. She’s always been the type of artist to boldly listen to her instinct and chase that wily muse where it leads her. Suzy Bogguss has always, and will always take the road less traveled...and that has made all the difference. Coming to Crested Butte seems a natural fit. More info / Tickets

Falco & Coakley: A smokin’ duo
|
It's always a great time when former musical residents return to the Center's stage, after being out in the world, touring, playing, and picking up music and talent along the way. So it's always nice to have Dan Coakley and Carter Falco perform at the Center. The two met at Western State College in 1995 and formed Hell City Rockers with their own blend of country-fried punk rock. They eventually went their separate ways but have stayed in the music industry, variously working with Shooter Jennings and producer Dave Cobb. Falco’s free-spirited music is reminiscent of Hank Williams, Jr. and Charie Robinson, while Coakley takes on the alternative country/Americana sound. Together, they’ll be a great pair to watch. Tickets are $10 and on sale now. More info
